- What is the Express Entry system?Step 1:This is an online system in which your profile is submitted to IRCC, after you meet theminimum eligibility criteria of a particular category.Then the profile is scored by IRCC on different criteria such as your age, languageresult, education, work experience, any blood relative living in Canada as PR or citizen,and the work experience or studies from Canada.Step 2:Based on your total score, called CRS (comprehensive rank score), the IRCC gives aninvitation to apply (ITA) for PR by holding regular draws, to those who have pointsabove the cut off score.This federal system applies for all the provinces, except Quebec.The 3 categories in Express Entry , with their requirements are:a) Federal skilled worker (FSW):● The foreign national must have 1 year continued work experience in NOCO, A or B occupation in management, technical ( Trades, engineering, IT,science , Arts, Business etc), or professional occupations. Examples ofprofessional occupation are a teacher, college instructor, or those inhealthcare (Nurse, Doctor, Technologist, Physiotherapist), Lawyer, andAccountants’ fields.● The Work experience can be either as self-employed ( own business), oras a salaried employee.● Obtain CLB 7 score in English language test in all four areas of Listening,Speaking, Reading, Writing. The accepted tests are IELTS-general andCELPIP-general, but not the Academic tests.● Have the foreign education degree/ diploma evaluated by a Canadianagency to give an assessment report of Canadian education equivalencycalled the ECAS report.b) Federal Skilled Trade (FST): This category is only for some specific NOC Btrade jobs (examples are chefs, cooks, butchers, carpenters, welders,ironworkers etc.), and such a foreign national must also meet below conditions:● Have 2 years of work experience in this NOC B job, out of the last 5 yearsfrom the date of application.
- ● Have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer, or a Certificate of trade
- Qualification from Canada.● Have a score of CLB 5 in Listening & speaking, and CLB 4 in Reading &writing of IELTS or CELPIP general tests.c) Canadian Experience Class (CEC): The foreign national must meet the belowconditions:● 1 year of legally authorized work experience in Canada in NOC O, A or Bjobs. This experience is acquired by those who have a work permit orStudy Permit or an Open work permit (for example that of a spouse), inCanada.● Work experience done during studies in Canada is not accepted.Self-employed experience, both inside or outside Canada is also notaccepted.● Work done in Quebec is accepted● CLB 5 in all the four areas of approved English IELTS or CELPIP generaltests.What happens after you get the invitation?● IRCC gives 2 months’ time to submit your PR application (called as e-APR),after you have been invited to apply (called ITA).● In this all the documents (Police clearance, medicals, biometrics), along withfilled forms are submitted.● The government PR fees to IRCC are paid at this stageBenefits of having your profile in Federal Express Entry.● The acceptance of your profile into the federal pool, makes you eligible to make aseparate PNP application in the Express Entry stream of the province, whereyou are living in Canada. This is of great benefit to students and workers alreadyresiding in Canada, as now they can try to secure a PNP nomination.● Getting this PNP nomination brings you 600 additional points, which then almostguarantees receiving the PR.● You get a Job Code with which you can register your CV / Resume on theCanadian government Job Board, hence being noticed by Canadian employersto receive their Job Offer.
