Express Entry

Express Entry

  • What is the Express Entry system?
    Step 1:
This is an online system in which your profile is submitted to IRCC, after you meet the
minimum eligibility criteria of a particular category.
Then the profile is scored by IRCC on different criteria such as your age, language
result, education, work experience, any blood relative living in Canada as PR or citizen,
and the work experience or studies from Canada.
    Step 2:
Based on your total score, called CRS (comprehensive rank score), the IRCC gives an
invitation to apply (ITA) for PR by holding regular draws, to those who have points
    above the cut off score.
This federal system applies for all the provinces, except Quebec.
The 3 categories in Express Entry , with their requirements are:
    a) Federal skilled worker (FSW):
    ● The foreign national must have 1 year continued work experience in NOC
O, A or B occupation in management, technical ( Trades, engineering, IT,
science , Arts, Business etc), or professional occupations. Examples of
professional occupation are a teacher, college instructor, or those in
healthcare (Nurse, Doctor, Technologist, Physiotherapist), Lawyer, and
    Accountants’ fields.
    ● The Work experience can be either as self-employed ( own business), or
    as a salaried employee.
    ● Obtain CLB 7 score in English language test in all four areas of Listening,
Speaking, Reading, Writing. The accepted tests are IELTS-general and
CELPIP-general, but not the Academic tests.
    ● Have the foreign education degree/ diploma evaluated by a Canadian
agency to give an assessment report of Canadian education equivalency
    called the ECAS report.
    b) Federal Skilled Trade (FST): This category is only for some specific NOC B
trade jobs (examples are chefs, cooks, butchers, carpenters, welders,
ironworkers etc.), and such a foreign national must also meet below conditions:
    ● Have 2 years of work experience in this NOC B job, out of the last 5 years
    from the date of application.
  • ● Have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer, or a Certificate of trade
  • Qualification from Canada.
    ● Have a score of CLB 5 in Listening & speaking, and CLB 4 in Reading &
writing of IELTS or CELPIP general tests.
    c) Canadian Experience Class (CEC): The foreign national must meet the below
    conditions:
1 year of legally authorized work experience in Canada in NOC O, A or B
jobs. This experience is acquired by those who have a work permit or
Study Permit or an Open work permit (for example that of a spouse), in
    Canada.
Work experience done during studies in Canada is not accepted.
Self-employed experience, both inside or outside Canada is also not
    accepted.
Work done in Quebec is accepted
CLB 5 in all the four areas of approved English IELTS or CELPIP general
    tests.
What happens after you get the invitation?
    ● IRCC gives 2 months’ time to submit your PR application (called as e-APR),
after you have been invited to apply (called ITA).
    ● In this all the documents (Police clearance, medicals, biometrics), along with
    filled forms are submitted.
    ● The government PR fees to IRCC are paid at this stage
Benefits of having your profile in Federal Express Entry.
    ● The acceptance of your profile into the federal pool, makes you eligible to make a
separate PNP application in the Express Entry stream of the province, where
you are living in Canada. This is of great benefit to students and workers already
residing in Canada, as now they can try to secure a PNP nomination.
    ● Getting this PNP nomination brings you 600 additional points, which then almost
    guarantees receiving the PR.
    ● You get a Job Code with which you can register your CV / Resume on the
Canadian government Job Board, hence being noticed by Canadian employers
to receive their Job Offer. This Job offer (also called arranged employment) will
bring additional 50 points in CRS score.
How we help in the Express Entry stream?
    ● We determine if you meet the minimum eligibility criteria, and do a detailed
assessment of your work experience, education and family to see in which
    category you best qualify.
    ● We submit your profile, after assessing all your documents right at the initial
stage, and so avoid the risk of rejection for any deficiencies.
    ● We advise on how to improve your CRS points.
